Philippe Sands QC is Professor of Laws and Director of the PICT Centre for International Courts and Tribunals at University College London. His main publications include Principles of International Environmental Law (2003, 2nd edition, Cambridge University Press), From Nuremburg to the Hague (ed., 2003, CUP) and Bowett’s Law of International Institutions (Sweet & Maxwell, 5th ed., 2001). As a practicing barrister at Matrix Chambers, London, he has acted as counsel in many international law cases, including before the International Court of Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, ICSID and the European Court of Justice.
